Local Marketing Strategy for Chicago Attorneys

A good marketing strategy for Chicago attorneys would start with a good feel for what the people in Chicago are really searching for.  I used the Google external keyword tool to see the actual keywords people are typing in and how often they are looking for these keywords.

We can see that the trend of people pursuing medical malpractice claims is doing well in Chicago.   There is also an upswing in wrongful death claims it seems.  Surprisingly there is not the increase in divorce searches that we saw nationally.  The good people in Chicago don’t seem to have followed the increase in DUI searches either.  I would like you to start getting it into your head that instead of “keyword research” we are actually looking at what Chicago residents are concerned about that is the reason that they actually sat down and typed these word that express their interest in that particular subject, don’t it kind of make you feel like a peeping tom?

Offline Business Marketing for Lawyers

Yesterday it was the attorney, today it is time to look at offline business marketing for lawyers, what!  you say, that’s got to be the same thing, you’d kind of suppose so, but apparently not to the general public. Lets look at the stats again this time for lawyers.

Remember I told you to note the medical malpractice stats for attorneys, well apparently their stats were down because people wanted a medical malpractice lawyer instead, now this could be a mistake but perhaps with all this talk of a health care bill and limiting medical malpractice lawsuit amounts, people are scrambling to get some of their doctors money.  Do you think perhaps people want a good old hard fighting lawyer to go after Doc, not some three piece suit, mamby pamby attorney at law?  What the hell is that attorney at law crap any way?  Do ever see or hear of a farmer at farm , plumber at plumbing, logger at log, just don’t make sense, but since when do most of the laws we have make any sense.

As you can see the keywords searched for, are similar for both layers and attorneys however your offline business marketing should take both terms into accoung for the best results.

As you may have read yesterday, we are using the Yellow Pages to assist us in our offline business marketing.  I was going to rip right through all the big money ads and come up with the standard list of catagories like:

  • Attorney
  • Dentist
  • Doctors oops again they are now Physicians
  • Insurance

Well you get the idea, well we are still on the Attorney category, we did:

Criminal  Defense Attorney (is the sub-category for today)

  • Felonies
  • Misdemeanors
  • Capital Offenses
  • DWI
  • DUI
  • Drug Offenses
  • Border Arrests
  • Robbery
  • Burglary

  • Shoplifting
  • Domestic Violence
  • Assault
  • Probation Matters
  • Jury Trials
  • Plea Bargaining
  • Sexual Offenses
  • Traffic Tickets
  • CDL
  • Drug charges
  • Juvenile offenses
  • Deferred Prosecution

Boy how would you like to advertise for these characters to come come tromping in your front door?  Well some Attorneys are, so do you think there is a bit of money available here?  Do you think that they could use a good online business marketer to help them with their offline business marketing?  Like how hard could it be to rank in Google for these keywords if you added your city, parish, county, state or zip code to them?  Maybe I’ll try that by adding:

Most business owners complain that half of their advertising budget is wasted, the problem is they just don’t know which half.   Offline marketing methods like the Yellow Pages and Newspaper ads are just hard to track the efficiency of conversions.

You know how about Google Analytics, Stat Counter or any of the other third party services for keeping statistics. You can prove to the prospect where their possible customers are coming from, what their behaviors are when they view a Web page and where they leave. No phone book can come close to that!

Instead of guessing if a display ad is performing well, your customer who has a Web page will have statistics to show what is working and what is not working. Using these statistics can also provide great market research for the client.

Your understanding of the offline marketing in the Yellow Page listings is just the beginning . You’ll have to cull out display ads like restaurants and other businesses that are working on a small profit margin. Just because a restaurant has a fullpage ad, doesn’t mean they’re making a big profit sometimes they have that big ad because the competition across the street has a big ad too.

If you want to make the best use of your time and energy helping local businesses get online, start with smart local business marketing research. Quit guessing which businesses spend big ad dollars, go to the Yellow Pages or a local business directory that has big display ads.

Go through the listings, you’ll find a niche that has full-page or very large display ads, write them down. Continue searching all the way to the end you will have more than enough potential niches.

You will find a lot of businesses and professions that advertise like this:

  • Home Contractors
  • Cosmetic Dentistry
  • Medical Doctors
  • Insurance Agencies
  • Injury Lawyers
  • Realtors

These businesses and professionals make big profits on each new customer or client they get. Spending thousands of dollars for local business marketing every month, this is just a fraction of what they receive in profits. You can be the one that gives them great value for their advertising dollar.  Just because there professionals earn large sums of money doesn’t mean they deserve a fleecing, you will be able to provide a quality service at a price point  so it is a win – win situation.

How to use Offline and Online Marketing

To sell just about anything even a Harley

My brother came to see me, he was in a bind he needed to sell his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and asked me to help him out, between the two of us we used both offline and online marketing to get him a whole lot of phone calls and emails from prospective buyers. Now I have to tell you upfront that my brother screwed this deal up, he was asking too much money but even got a $9500 offer, but he did not really want to sell as he ended up refinancing and keeping his bike. But I was impressed as the offers can in just days after starting all this, here is what we did:

  • Made a webpage
  • Made a USfreeads classifed
  • Made a Youtube video
  • Put up fliers around two counties
  • placed Craigslist ads in 2 cities

Yes there we a few hours of online work and a couple hours putting up fliers, but we are talking a $10,000 sale here what would a dealer charge you for that?

Local Offline Internet Marketing

Local offline Internet marketing skills are simple to acquire if you have internet marketing experience, first find out who is paying a lot of advertising money in your local area.  Go see these businesses first, before you think about helping smaller, less profitable businesses.

A simple way to start your market research is to research Yellow Page books and business directories. Look for businesses that have big display ads because full page display ads are expensive. The ad cost is so much that they are paid for on a monthly installment plan.

You might want to call or write to these places and find out the monthly charge for advertising in their publications. You may be in for a surprise, as small to medium businesses who do this advertising pay thousands of dollars month in and month out for advertising fees.

All you have to do is get in the line for your share of this local market and put your local offline Internet marketing skills to work.
